Machete Wielding Suspect Arrested In Coeur d'Alene

Coeur d'Alene Police Department Press Release: 

Coeur d Alene Police Department officers responded to a report of a fight at 710 North 21st Street involving a machete.  Upon arrival to the area, officers learned the male who had the machete had left the scene.  Additional reports came in from the public placing the male in the 2100 block of Front Street waving the machete.  The male had also pulled the machete on one person placing it to his throat and then chasing a different male with the machete.  Both of those victims were not involved in the original fight. 

Officers continued to check the area and the male was subsequently located by officers near 23rd and Mullan Avenue.  The male, Kenneth "Randy" Randal Smith, 38 who is a transient, was taken into custody after being subdued with a Conducted Energy Device. 

Smith was later transported to the Kootenai County Jail where he was charged with the following:  Aggravated battery (felony), aggravated assault (felony), resisting/obstructing an officer, malicious injury to property, battery (two counts) and driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
