SPOKANE, Wash. - Most of us remember exactly where we were on September 11th, 2001. Daniel Curran not only remembers that day, but where it took him. Army Specialist Daniel Curran remembers that Tuesday morning like it was yesterday. A high school student in Long Island at the time, he was in Spanish class when he first heard that planes had hit the World Trade Center. He says the next few days were spent like most Americans, with his family watching the tragedy unfold before their eyes. Wanting to do anything he could, Dan along with his family traveled to Ground Zero less than a week after the attack, and even attended a memorial for the victims at St. Patrick's Cathedral. He says from that day on he knew he wanted to help and that led him to join the Army as a Combat Medic in Iraq. Daniel survived multiple roadside bombs and mortar attacks during his deployment. He also suffered internal and spinal injuries along with post traumatic stress disorder that affects him even today. Not letting that keep him from being there for his brothers he served with, he is now a member of the Wounded Warrior Project. The group helps disabled and wounded veterans as they transition back into life here at home. Married now with two little girls of his own, Daniel and his family are planning a trip back to New York to visit Ground Zero for the first time since September, 2001.
