SPOKANE, Wash. - Family, friends and former music students packed the Bing Crosby Theater Thursday evening to support longtime mentor and teaching coach, Marjory Halvorson who was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Halvorson has been teaching at Whitworth and Gonzaga for more than 40 years.
Students describe Halvorson as an inspirational and dedicated lover of music which she calls her passion.
That passion led to the founding of the Spokane Opera, where she was the artistic director for a quarter century.
Organizers at the concert collected donations for Halvorson as she continues to death with health issues.
