KHQ.COM - Runner David Barrett from Boise was in Boston with his wife Monday. It was his second time running the marathon. Little did he know what would happen less than an hour after he crossed the finish line.
David and his wife Sharyn were just about to get on the subway on the way back to their hotel when they started hearing all the sirens.
Finishing with a time of 3 hours and 13 minutes, David narrowly missed the explosions that killed 3 people and injured dozens more.
His wife was actually in a VIP area at the finish line waiting for him. Later they found out it was less than 50 feet from where the first bomb went off.
Obviously shaken up by all of the days events, David says he's grateful he didn't have any issues on the course or it would have been a completely different story for him and his wife.
David says throughout everything, the people in Boston were great and he hopes they can continue the marathon last year to honor everyone affected by the events of Monday's tragedy.
