How Safe Is The Water At Spokane City Splash Pad?

SPOKANE, Wash. – Just how safe is the water at area splash pads if your child should happen to drink it?

Spokane city officials say use two different types of systems throughout the 18 water parks classified as splash pads.

The Rotary Fountain at Riverfront Park uses a re-circulated system, meaning the water is chlorinated and the cleanliness of the water is similar to city pools.

The splash pads use a flow through system. The water comes in from the plumbing and gets drained right back into the aquifer, the same as if you were drinking from your faucet at home

While city officials say the water is perfectly safe if consumed, they aren't encouraging the public to just freely drink it.
