Firefighters from Spokane County and Stevens County were called to a house fire just south of Deer Park Monday evening.
It happened in the 3500 block of W. Owens Rd. off of Highway 395. The homeowner was just about to leave his house when he smelled smoke, looked up and saw that his roof was on fire. He called 911 and attempted to put the flames out with a garden hose, but the flames continued to spread. Once firefighters arrived they were able to extinguish the flames. The damage to the home was confined to the top floor of the three-story home. There is no estimate on damage.
No injuries were reported. All occupants were able to make it out of the house, including four dogs.
The cause is under investigation.
