HOOPFEST: Son Plays For Mom Battling Cancer

SPOKANE, Wash. - Walking around downtown Spokane you see so many people, some crazy costumes, but on Sunday one shirt that simply said "Cancer Sucks" stood out. One Hoopfest team knows just how hard cancer can be. It's not just another basketball game for Jared Maring, it may be the last time he gets to see his number one fan on the sideline. His mom, Lisa, is battling stage 4 breast cancer that has spread through her entire body. Doctors say she only has months to live.
"I played harder for her cause it was a last chance. I knew she wanted to see me win and I just wanted to give that to her," Jared said Sunday.Lisa clings to each and every moment she has.
"I am very lucky, because I might not see them get married, I might not get to see who they fall in love with, and what their careers are going to be, so I soak it all up when I can now. Even though I am tired, I got to take what I can get."Jared and his teammates won their last game on Sunday and they were the Consolation Champions.
