Grant County Sheriff's Office: Two Men Arrested, 400lbs Of Marijuana SIEZED

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE GRANT COUNTRY SHERIFF'S OFFICE: MOSES LAKE, Wash. -Two men were arrested and 400 lbs. of Marijuana seized as the result of a month-long investigation by Grant County's Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team. On Nov. 2, INET detectives conducting surveillance on a home at 14802 Third Street Northeast in Moses Lake saw two men leave the home in a car. Moses Lake Police stopped that car and smelled Marijuana, and a subsequent search of that car uncovered a large quantity of Marijuana packaged for sale. A successive search warrant was served at the Third Street home, and INET found more than 400 lbs. of Marijuana including 19 mature plants. The plants were found inside a plywood grow, which is a Marijuana growing operation hidden by 4' x 8' sheets of plywood stacked vertically to form a tall fence around the Marijuana in order to prevent detection by law enforcement. There were also two sheds on the property dedicated to drying and processing the Marijuana for later sale. INET detectives also seized over $3,000 cash and a vehicle which are believed to have been illegal proceeds of the operation. Arrested during the traffic stop was Carlos Ali Cera, 18, of Royal City and Juan Carlos Cortez Barajas, 20 of Quincy on a variety of drug-related charges. They are lodged in the Grant County Jail. The Marijuana was being grown under the guise of medicinal use of Marijuana. The investigation continues. Supervised by the Grant County Sheriff's Office, INET is comprised of detectives from the Sheriff's Office, Washington State Patrol, Quincy Police Department and Moses Lake Police Department.
