Governor Elect-Jay Inslee Asks WSU President Elson Floyd To Join Advisory Team

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University President Elson S. Floyd accepted the invitation of Washington Governor-elect Jay Inslee on Wednesday, to serve as one of three advisory team co-chairs to assist Inslee with his transition into office.

Floyd will serve with co-chairs Brad Smith, General Counsel and Vice President of Microsoft Corporation, as well as Dr. Mary Alice Heuschel, superintendent of Renton Public Schools.  He says he sees his appointment by the incoming governor as an excellent opportunity to assist in addressing the needs of public education in Washington state.

Inslee asked the opinions of each co-chair on candidates for key cabinet positions, and recommendations of people to fill those positions.  After the transition, Inslee is also asking that Floyd remain available to provide advice and insights over the next four years.
