SPOKANE, Wash. - In the past six months, there have been four assaults within a one mile radius of each other near the Spokane River and the Mission Ave. bridge.
The first attack happened on March 29th on South Riverton. Sherrie Wright was walking her dog around 6 in the morning when someone came up behind her and knocked her out cold.
This attack happened just feet away from where Sharlotte McGill was murdered just more than a month later on May 3rd. Before she died, McGill said that her attacker was a black male with bad eye.
The third victim in the area was a Gonzaga student. She was jogging on the Centennial Trail in the morning of Wednesday, August 29th. Someone came up to her and tried to punch her multiple times. The woman turned her back and was able to run away from him. She described her attacker as a black male, was about 5'9, age 20-25, about 200 pounds.
The latest attack was on Thursday, when a woman went for a jog around the same spot as the Gonzaga student. After that attack, police arrested 17-year-old Avondre Graham. Detectives have said that there is something odd with his eye. Graham matches the suspect description from both the Gonzaga student's attacker and Sharlotte McGill's killer.
We talked to the first victim in the area, Sherrie Wright. Sherrie tells KHQ that she will never forget that innocent walk on Riverton with her dog.
"Every time something happens like last night or a couple weeks ago with the college student, it just brings it all back to me. I don't like the feeling. I feel I am one of the lucky ones," Wright said.
