EWU Football Player Arrested On Rape Charges

CHENEY, Wash. - An Eastern Washington University football player is under investigation tonight after being accused of raping an unconscious 17-year-old girl over the weekend.

According to court documents, Dalis Bruce assaulted the teenager after a night of drinking. Other people who were there at the time claim to have witnessed the assault. Witnesses told police they saw Bruce on top of the victim who could not take care of herself due to the intoxication and told Bruce to leave. Witnesses say the victims did not regain consciousness until after the assault had occurred.

According to the court documents, Bruce entered the victim's room in the early morning hours of Sunday the 19th of August, found her unconscious on the bed and proceeded to removed her clothes from the waist down.

Bruce first denied having sex with the victim, but later admitted to some sexual contact.

Bruce was taken into custody and charged with 2nd Degree Rape. He later posted $25,000 bail and was released on Monday.

His arraignment is scheduled for August 28th.
