DEVELOPING STORY: Detectives In Grant County Need Help Identifying Body

UPDATE: Near MATTAWA, Wash. - Grant County Detectives investigating an apparent homicide near Mattawa are asking the public for help with the case. Around 10:15 a.m. yesterday, a hunter found a dead body near the 22000 block of Road 26 Southwest. Detectives found the body of an adult, gender yet to be confirmed, and initial evidence the person died due to gunshot wounds. Detectives are collecting evidence, and are asking the public to send them any information about recently missing friends or relatives.

Further information on this investigation will be sent tomorrow after autopsy is completed by the Grant County Coroner. We are asking the media and citizens to translate and share this information with Spanish speaking community members.

A hunter found the body north of a fish and wild life access area, which services the Columbia River. This area is located approximately 3 miles southwest of the city limits of Mattawa.
