Laurie Lynn Partridge when missing in 1974 when she was 17 years old walking home from school on 34th and Havana. She would be 53 years old today. Foul play is suspected in her disappearance. Also listed on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children: a handful of endangered runaways.
In some of these cases, the missing people are presumed dead. However, as we saw on Monday, those presumptions are not always true. Such was the case with Shasta Groene. The girl was kidnapped from her Coeur d'Alene home, held captive in the Montana wilderness, and then found six weeks later in Coeur d'Alene thanks to people on alert who were able to identify her and call police.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is the biggest nonprofit organization providing assistance to law enforcement and families to find missing children, reduce child sexual exploitation and prevent child victimization.
