SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Police are crediting resource allocation for the arrest of a prolific burglar. SPD says emphasis patrols in the area led to the arrest of 31-year-old Christian Wendt at a home the 3900 block of North Pittsburg Sunday morning. Officers also responded to another burglary in progress in the area in the 1200 block of East Longfellow, but the burglar got away.
SPD credits emphasis patrols for the quick response to the known burglary hot spot. The Spokane Police Department's Crime Map shows the two incidents over the weekend border hot spots known for high burglary activity.
The arrest comes less than a week after local law enforcement agencies announced a new task force dedicated to fighting property crime. City and County agencies in the Spokane area and North Idaho plan to work together and share information between agencies so they can devout manpower to known problem areas.
