Crash On Highway 2 Injures Three

LINCOLN COUNTY, Wash. - The Washington State Patrol responded to a single vehicle accident overnight on Highway 2 about two miles east of Davenport.

Troopers arrived on scene just before 3:00am to find a 1998 Subaru Legacy down an embankment. After an investigation, Troopers determined 19-year-old Lindsey Barajas of Post Falls was driving eastbound on the highway when she drifted off the roadway and ended up going down the embankment. Barajas and her two passengers, 19-year-old Courtney Hayes and 19-year-old Shelby Mahal, both of Post Falls, were injured during the crash and taken to a hospital in Lincoln County for treatment. Their condition is unknown, but all three occupants were wearing seatbelts and drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash.

Troopers say the official cause of the accident was inattention and Barajas will be charged with 2nd Degree Negligent Driving.
