Conkling Marina And Resort Up For Auction

COUER D'ALENE, Idaho - The Conkling Marina and Resort has been around for more than a century. It's become a staple at Lake Couer d'Alene but now, it's in for some changes. Ownership of the marina is about to change hands after a foreclosure where it will go up for auction.

The current owner of the marina, Couer d'Alene Marina project LLC, purchased it back in 2007 from the Kirkpatrick family. Since then the company has defaulted on payments to the family about a year ago and now the Kirkpatrick's are looking to buy it back at auction.

But caught in the middle of all this are the people who already purchased boat slips for the year. When Tom Kirkpatrick was contacted by phone he said that the current owner had not been in contact with them about honoring the contracts, but he's hopeful it will get ironed out before the auction.

Neighbors who live around the Marina say there's been an uncertainty surrounding the Marina for a few years. Another thing that could hold up the opening of the Marina by April First, is attorneys from the current owner and the previous owner arguing over who owns the docks and whether it's part of the property that can be foreclosed upon.
