SCRAPS PRESS RELEASE:
SPOKANE COUNTY, July 6, 2012 – SCRAPS' Animal Protection Officers are investigating a terrible case of animal cruelty and need the public's help.
On Monday, July 2nd officers responded to a call at Viewpoint Villa Apartments in the Spokane Valley (5911 E. Woodlawn), where a woman reported hearing a cat screaming from inside a dumpster. The apartment manager removed a garbage bag and found an injured, bleeding cat inside the bag and wrapped in a blanket. SCRAPS' Animal Protection Officer quickly took the cat to a veterinarian where it had to be euthanized. A necropsy was performed which confirmed the cat had been shot in the head and had also sustained traumatic bodily injuries.
SCRAPS is asking any witnesses that might have seen or heard something to contact them at (509) 477-2532 as soon as possible. SCRAPS will also keep your name and contact information confidential.
