Booth Gardner, 19th Governor Of Washington, Dies At Age 76

Press Release:

Former Washington Gov. Booth Gardner has passed away. Gov. Gardner, who was born on August 21, 1936, was 76 years old. He had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1994 and died of complications from the disease late Friday at his Tacoma home.   Gardner served two terms as governor of Washington state, from 1985 to 1993. Arrangements for a public memorial service will be announced shortly.   Gov. Gardner's family directs questions and inquiries to Ron Dotzauer, who served as Gardner's campaign manager in his first run for governor in 1984.   "We're very sad to lose my father, who had been struggling with a difficult disease for many years, but we are relieved to know that he's at rest now and his fight is done," said Gardner's daughter, Gail Gant.   Gardner's family requests that memorial donations be made to the Northwest Parkinson's Foundation.
