13-Year-Old Beat Up In Spokane Park

SPOKANE, Wash. - An evening at the Hillyard Skate Park Monday night quickly turned into a trip to the hospital for 13-year-old Riley Kysar after a group of kids beat him up.

They told Riley that they wanted his bike helmet, but they still didn't leave him alone.

One of the kids in the group grabbed his skateboard and slammed it in Riley's face. It left a huge cut, a concussion, and a hefty medical bill.

His mom, Connie Kysar, said that she was upset that something like this happened in her neighborhood, in a place she says should be a safe haven for kids.

"Luckily he is home. I am just thankful my son is home. But I want answers and I am not going to stop till I find out who did it and why. Why? Over a bike helmet?" Kysar said.

The Spokane Police Department said that they have a couple possible suspect names and detectives are looking into them.
