SEATTLE (AP) - Republican Kim Wyman and Democrat Kathleen Drew were in a tight battle to become Washington's next top election officer. Following early returns Tuesday, Wyman had a very narrow lead over Drew in the race replace longtime incumbent Sam Reed, who is retiring as secretary of state. Reed had been in office since 2000. Wyman has been Thurston County's auditor since 2001. Drew is a former state senator from Issaquah.(Copyright 2012 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
