PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPT: The Spokane County Sheriff's Office highly recommends that citizens use extreme caution when dealing with Kirby salespeople that are in our area.
On May 27, 2013, a group of Kirby salespeople were attempting to sell Kirby products to a homeowner near the 3200 block of N. Ely Road. The salespeople were at the residence for over three hours, were extremely aggressive and continuously requested credit card information from the homeowner.
Spokane Valley detectives contacted Kirby headquarters in Chicago and they were aware of these salespeople. They told detectives they did possess about 200 Kirby units legally, but that they had no connection to these salespeople. The salespeople in this specific incident have criminal records and have been investigated by federal agencies.
As stated previously, the Sheriff's Office cautions citizens to not provide any type of credit information to these, or any type of salespeople, before verifying they are legitimate employees of the business they claim to represent.
If you do encounter these types of salespeople that refuse to leave your residence you are urged to call 911. The local office of the BBB is also aware of this group of individuals.
