SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - Spokane County commissioners gave final approval Tuesday to a $2 million settlement with the family of a Spokane Valley nursery owner who was shot to death in 2010 in a confrontation with a deputy. The Spokesman-Review reports (http://bit.ly/1aoyqnD ) the county's insurer wanted to settle to avoid the chance of a higher award at a trial. The family of Wayne Scott Creach agreed last month to settle its wrongful death lawsuit. Creach was killed when he armed himself to check on a car parked at his business. He ran into Deputy Brian Hirzel who shot him. The deputy was cleared in a shooting investigation.
