SPOKANE, Wash. - Thursday morning fire crews say a Sherwin Williams semi-truck carrying paint supplies became stuck when the driver tried going under the bridge. Hazmat crews were called to the scene out of concern that paint supplies, specifically acetone, would create dangerous and possibly combustible fumes. The driver of the semi was not hurt.
Crews were on scene for several hours as Stevens between 1st and 2nd was blocked off. Fire officials say there was no environmental hazard. Hazmat crews were brought in mainly as a precaution. Responders say the truck was carrying a "partial load" with several gallons of paint buckets. The semi driver was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.
