Idaho State Police have confirmed the suspect arrested for trafficking methamphetamine is Charles E. Gibson, 41 years of age of Spokane Washington. No further details will be released about the incident as it remains under investigation.
Coeur d'Alene Police Department UPDATED Press Release 1-8-12:
Coeur d'Alene Police Detectives responded to assist the DEA and Idaho State Police narcotics division with a shooting incident. At approximately 3:15 pm The DEA and ISP completed a controlled narcotics purchase from a white male, 41 years of age, in the parking lot area of the Tribal Conoco Station near the Coeur d'Alene Casino. Officers attempted to arrest the suspect and he evaded arrest in his vehicle. A very short pursuit ensued during which time the suspect aggressed on an officer with his vehicle.
An officer fired one shot into the vehicle, and the suspect sustained a minor skin injury from possibly shrapnel. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to KMC for a complete evaluation. Once that evaluation is complete the male suspect will be booked into jail for trafficking methamphetamine with additional other charges pending. His name is not being released at this time.
Coeur d'Alene Police Detectives have cleared the scene at the Tribal Conoco for the evening. Detectives expect to complete follow-up interviews of additional witnesses tomorrow.
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - The Coeur d'Alene Police Department is continuing to investigate a shooting that happened Tuesday afternoon at a gas station near the Coeur d'Alene Casino.
Authorities say during a drug sting, a DEA agent was making a meth deal with an unidentified 41-year-old man. During the deal, the suspect became aggressive towards the agent and at some point the agent fired one shot, though right now it is unknown if the bullet hit the suspect.
The suspect fled the scene in a pickup truck which was later stopped by using spike strips. Law enforcement agents were able to take the man into custody and he was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The Coeur d'Alene Police Department is taking lead on the investigation, however multiple agencies are on scene. Authorities will continue investigating the incident throughout the night and more information should be available on Wednesday.

At the request of Idaho State Police the Coeur d'Alene Police Department has been assigned as the lead investigators in a critical incident that occurred at The Tribal Conoco Station located next to the Coeur d'Alene Casino at 3:20pm today. Kootenai County Sheriff's Department will also assist in the investigation.
The incident occurred while ISP officers were affecting an arrest. After a short pursuit shots were fired. A suspect has been taken into custody.
Police are asking the public to avoid the area while officer's conduct their investigation. No further information is available at this time. An update will be provided when more information becomes available.
