SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - Spokane County prosecutors say a Spokane police officer was justified when he shot an armed man who threatened officers. The prosecutor's office said Wednesday that Officer Adam Valdez did not violate the law Feb. 5 when he killed 52-year-old Jacob I. Dorfman. The Spokesman-Review reports (http://is.gd/IW3YE0 ) Dorfman had fired his gun and disregarded orders to drop the weapon. Officers had responded to a report of a man firing a gun in the street. He earlier had shot at a man in an apartment. Dorfman drove away and was chased down by police. He was shot when he raised his gun toward an officer. Later tests showed he had methamphetamine and oxycodone in his system.
