UPDATE: Bomb Threat At Deer Park High School

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE: On Wednesday, October 24, 2012, a Deer Park High School student located a handwritten note inside the women's bathroom stall that read "bomb goes off at 1 today" with a smiley face next to it.

Deer Park High School staff was notified of the note and the school district made the decision to immediately evacuate the high school. All the high school students were safely re-located to Arcadia Elementary.

The Spokane County Sheriff's Office responded to the school and closed down the immediate area around the high school. No other schools were affected by the evacuation.

Fairchild Air Force Base and the U.S. Marshall Service provided two Explosive Detection K-9 units to search the parking lot and the interior of the school. Once it was determined the campus was safe, the school was released back to the district at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

Any type of bomb threat made in Washington State is a class B felony.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
