SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - Randy Livingston never imagined that much of his belongings, stored inside of a "secure" storage facility, would wind up in the hands of thieves.
Livingston's job in Tacoma requires a lot of traveling but with his son in Spokane, he decided to store much of his outdoor equipment at Secure-It Storage on Cataldo Avenue in Spokane Valley. And why not? It seemed like the perfection set-up. Livingston said employees promised him air-tight security and 24-hour camera surveillance.
But within two weeks, his 16-foot trailer with everything inside mysteriously vanished.
Inside his trailer, Livingston had what amounted to an outdoor sports-enthusiasts dream: specialized mountain bikes, Kawasaki dirt bikes, rollerblades, speakers and amps and an assortment of other electronics, tools, clothes, camping gear, and more.
"It's a pretty big shock, you know?" Livingston said during a phone interview Tuesday.
The biggest blow, Livingston said, was that the crooks hauled off with his priceless family photo albums also inside the trailer.
"Things like that make you feel shook up," Livingston said. "When you lose your photo albums and stuff from high school and clear back before that ... it was quite a shock. That can't be replaced."
According to Livingston, the storage facility didn't have any answers about the alleged theft. What's worse, he said, while the storage facility has surveillance cameras, he said employees told him that the cameras went down a day before his trailer vanished.
"They didn't offer an explanation. They said it was gone and to call the police," Livingston continued.
Spokane Valley Police are now working on this case but, at this point, all Livingston is hoping for is that someone recognizes his belongings and does the right thing: returns them to their rightful owner.
KHQ talked to an employee of Secure-It Storage at the Spokane Valley location but that person referred us to the headquarters location in Spokane. KHQ left multiple messages with multiple employees there but calls were not immediately returned.
