For the second time, 14-year-old Alicia Ponce-Myers is in the fight for her life against cancer. Her family traveled to Sacred Hearth Children's Hospital from their hometown of Tonasket, Washington, so she could have the best care possible. However, being so far away from home has presented several challenges for her family. KHQ first heard about Alicia and her family after attending an end of the year assembly at Sacajawea Middle School, where she went to school. Teachers and classmates describe her as someone who goes out of her way to help others and always find the good in the moment despite this being the second time she'll have to fight for her life. Everyone thought Alicia was in remission from the cancer and that she would not need anymore chemotherapy. However, she recently started having terrible migraine headaches, which lead doctors to do a brain scan. The scan revealed several tumors in her brain, but the family is not giving up hope.
