ORIGINAL STORY:

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Police are currently attempting to get a man out of a skateboard shop in the Hillyard neighborhood after they say the man charged at police with a machete.

Around 3:00 AM Police say a man forced his way into an apartment next to Hillyard Skateboards armed with a machete. Once inside police say the man assaulted the resident who suffered non life threatening injuries.

The man exited the apartment where police met him; that's when officers say the man charged at them multiple times with the machete, nearly forcing them to use force against him.

He eventually ran off to the skateboard shop nearby, police later learned that the man owns the shop.

Officers with the Spokane Police department have the place surrounded and say they know who the man is based on prior incidents.
