Spokane Valley Police: Brothers Arrested For Rape

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE VALLEY POLICE DEPT: On Sunday, October 21, 2012, Spokane Valley Sheriff's Deputies responded to Valley Hospital for a rape call. Deputies contacted the complainant, who was also the 14-year-old victim's mother.   The victim's mother told deputies she had been away for the evening at a birthday party. When she arrived home Sunday morning, her 14-year-old daughter told her that she had been raped.   The victim told deputies she and two of her 15-year-old female friends were at Value Village in Spokane Valley when they met four males in a vehicle.  The girls were invited back to an apartment complex near the 500 block of South Farr Rd.   A short time after arriving at the apartment, two of the male subjects left. Two brothers, 19-year-old Ramadan Abbas and 23-year-old Salah Abbas remained at the apartment. The victim told deputies that sometime early Sunday morning one of the brother's convinced her to come out of the bedroom she was in with her friends and into the living room. It was at that time that one of the brothers tripped the victim on to the floor. One brother held the victim's arms down while the other brother raped her. Both brothers eventually raped the victim.   After speaking with the victim at the hospital, deputies located Salah at the Farr address. Salah gave the deputies permission to enter the apartment and saw the apartment matched how the victim described it.  When questioned about the incident Salah admitted that he and his brother Ramadan both raped the victim. Deputies contacted Ramadan at his residence near the 9800 block of East 6th Ave. He was detained and transported to the Public Safety Building to be interviewed by Sexual Assault Unit Detectives.   Detective A. Buell interviewed Ramadan at the Public Safety Building. Ramadan admitted both he and his brother raped the victim and that they knew she was only 14-years-old. Both brothers were booked into the Spokane County Jail on the charge of 2nd Degree Rape.
