OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE: On Thursday, January 17, 2013, at 11:15 a.m., Spokane County Sheriff's Deputy Greg Lance responded to the area of 4800 S. Dyer Street reference a burglary call. Deputy Lance contacted the female victim who told him she was home with her five children, ranging in age between 8 and 1, when she saw a vehicle park on Dyer near her house. The victim did not recognize the vehicle and thought it was suspicious. The victim continued to watch the vehicle and observed the male passenger walk up towards her front door. The victim described the male suspect as a white male in his early thirties. She said the suspect was wearing a plaid hoodie sweatshirt and that he was wearing a baseball cap on top of the hoodie. She described the vehicle as a mid 1980's, red Toyota Corolla 2-door sedan with something hanging off the rear bumper. She said the driver was also a white male in his early forties with messy, dark hair. The victim said the suspect came to the front door and rang the doorbell. Not knowing who he was she chose not to answer the door. She watched as the suspect walked around the exterior of her residence looking inside all the windows. At this point she chose to take her children into a back bedroom. After doing this the victim heard the suspect attempting to open the back door to her residence which was locked. The victim looked outside a couple minutes later and did not see the suspect. She said she walked out on the back deck and could not see where the suspect was at. At that time the suspect walked out from inside her shop and scurried to the waiting Corolla. The suspect told the driver "come on, let's go" and the vehicle sped off. $140.00 in cash was taken from inside a vehicle in the shop.
