SPD Taking Steps To Bring Down Crime

SPOKANE, Wash. - Despite the overall increase in crime, Spokane Police officers are encouraged in their efforts.  Officers are now meeting every single week to determine where crimes are happening and every single week they are allocating the resources to take down crime in Spokane. 

For investigation purposes, the Spokane Police break up the city into four different parts; The Northwest, Northeast, Southeast, and Southwest. Many have voiced their concern with downtown Spokane, especially following recent fights. Police are reporting that things are actually improving and since the first of the year crime is actually down about 12% downtown. 

There have been several success stories lately for the Spokane police. Following the very tragic Monday morning murder of 20-year-old Heather Cassel. Detectives worked 25 hours straight resulting in three search warrants and two arrests in that time.
