PRESS RELEASE FROM THE CHELAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE: Sheriff Brian Burnett reports a 23-year-old female snowmobile operator was injured when she collided with a tree east of Fish Lake near Deep Creek Saturday afternoon.
Alexandra Corbal was part of a guided snowmobile group traveling on a groomed snow trail near the USFS 6102 Rd when she lost control of her snow machine. Corbal's snowmobile launched off the trail and into a 10-12 inch diameter tree. The incident occurred at around 12:45pm.
A Sheriff's Office Deputy coordinated with two USFS enforcement officers and Cascade Medics to deploy rescuers to the scene. Corbal suffered a possible fractured arm, a shoulder injury and facial lacerations in the collision.
She was transported from the scene via a snow rescue sled to the Fish Lake Trailhead, and then by ambulance to Cascade Medical Center in Leavenworth for treatment. The snowmobile is being considered a total loss. The investigation into the cause of the collision continues.
