SPOKANE, Wash. - Several roads had to be shut down Thursday night so crews could lay deicer, plow, and tow stranded drivers.
The snow began falling about 5:00 PM. Quickly dropping temperatures froze the moisture on the roads leaving a layer of ice and causing dozens of accidents.
Drivers had a difficult time making it up Freya and Ray on Spokane's South Hill.
Cars spun out causing back-ups and fender benders as drivers were helpless to do anything about it.
Spokane transit actually had to change their routes for buses that weren't able to make it to the top of the hill.
Conditions were so bad on Bernard that Spokane Police actually shut it down after dealing with multiple collisions.
There were no major injuries reported.
Conditions were not much better on Interstate 90
From the West Plains all the way out to Stateline, Washington State Patrol was extremely busy.
Multiple slide-offs caused delays near Liberty Lake as a minivan and SUV ended up in the median.
Crews are working to clear snow and get deicer on roads but drivers are reminded to slow down and make sure you give yourself plenty of room as you plan out your commute.
