SPOKANE, Wash. - On Saturday, Staff Sergeant Matthew Stiltz was laid to rest. His family invited KHQ to his burial ceremony. More than one hundred people showed up to pay their respect to the Matthew and his family. The ceremony lasted about an hour. The Patriot Guard was there to honor his sacrifice. His wife, Brooke, mother, Terri, sister, dad, and other family were all in attendance.
Stiltz was killed by insurgents in Afghanistan on November 12th. Many people came to his burial. 76 of the Patriot Guard held flags as his family arrived to the cemetery. The Captain of the Guard, Larry Griffth said this, "We are here to show is family that this community cares very much about the sacrifice that that their family has now made...we just want to let them know that people care about there loss."Stiltz's high school friend was shocked by how many people there were. "I had no idea that this many people would come. It's really amazing o see that his many people would care about what someone is doing for all of us here in the United States," said Phil Sanders.
