The Board of Directors of Greater Spokane Incorporated announced today that Rich Hadley, the President and CEO for the past 20 years, has decided to step down in April of 2014.
"I am very proud of our talented staff and exceptional board leadership who have contributed to so many successes over the past twenty years," Hadley said. "It's time for the organization to have its next generation of executive leadership."
Jeff Philipps, the current Chair of the Board of Trustees, said, "Over his twenty-year tenure with the Chamber of Commerce and Greater Spokane Incorporated, Rich Hadley has been an incredible change agent for this community. His vision, leadership, collaboration and ability to create consensus have brought significant economic growth and quality of life improvements to Spokane and the region."
The organization has appointed Linda Elkin of U.S. Bank and Scott Morris of Avista to co-chair the CEO Search Committee. The full committee will be appointed in September.
"Rich came to us through a national search and we intend to do the same," said Elkin, who was recently elected to be Chair of GSI in 2014-2015. "As you might expect, Rich has given this a lot of thought and has outlined a month-to-month timeline of search committee activity leading to a new CEO selection in April of next year."
Philipps continued: "In addition to his commitment to the protection and growth of Fairchild Air Force Base, Rich has fostered effective and productive relationships with city, state, regional and national leaders to achieve our local objectives, including the reality of a new four-year Medical School on the University District campus. His mentorship of staff and his influence in the business, education and political communities have resulted in a firm foundation to move Spokane forward. Rich will certainly be missed."
