Police Officer Allegedly Threatens To Shoot Michelle Obama

WASHINGTON (AP) - District of Columbia Police Chief Cathy Lanier says there are conflicting reports about threatening comments a police officer may have made about First Lady Michelle Obama.

The Secret Service says it's investigating a report of such comments, allegedly made this week by a city officer who worked as a member of a motor escort for the White House.

Lanier told The Associated Press in an email Friday that "there are conflicting reports about what was said." She didn't immediately elaborate.

The Washington Post cited anonymous police officials in reporting the officer told colleagues he would shoot the first lady, and then showed a photo on his phone of the gun he would use.

D.C. police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump has declined to discuss the comments beyond saying they're under investigation.
