North Idaho Traffic Stop Nets Nearly Half A Million Dollars In Drug Money

COEUR d'ALENE, Idaho - Kootenai County Sheriff's office is fighting to keep nearly a half a million dollars in what's believed to be drug money.

According to newly released federal court documents, $407,676.52 was seized in May of 2012 after a deputy made a traffic stop in Coeur d'Alene of David Anthony Yadon. The Kootenai County Sheriff's Department believes the money is tied to illegal methamphetamine sales connected toYadon.

Yadon was arrested in May after the traffic stop and booked in to the Kootenai County jail, charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. During the traffic stop, according to court documents deputies found Yadon in possession of more than $7,000. They also found nearly $400,000 in a garbage bag stuffed in a suitcase wrapped in heat sealed bags in the trunk of Yadon's vehicle. Deputies also found two glass pipes, which tested, positive for meth according to court documents.

The Kootenai County Sheriff's office is now working with the federal government to try and access to the funds through the legal process. The U.S. Marshall service currently has a hold on the funds as a neutral party until it's determined how much if any will be distributed to the KCSD. From August 2011 to September 2012 the Kootenai County sheriffs office has seized nearly $830,000.00 in believed drug money.
