Mother charged in death of Pa. boy shot in crib

SLATINGTON, Pa. (AP) - Authorities in eastern Pennsylvania have charged a mother with involuntary manslaughter in the death of a 19-month-old boy hit by a gunshot in his crib.

The (Allentown) Morning Call (http://bit.ly/OM3wvO ) reports that 26-year-old Holly Pallone was arraigned Sunday morning from Lehigh County prison on that charge, along with reckless endangerment.

According to the arrest affidavit, officers responding to a 911 call from a Slatington apartment late Saturday found Anthony Pallone Jr. with a gunshot wound. Investigators say the mother told officers she was planning to sell a gun and was unloading it when it fired.

Coroner Scott Grim ruled the death a homicide and scheduled an autopsy for Monday.

Court records indicate Pallone will be represented by the county public defender's office, where a message seeking comment couldn't be left Sunday.
