Montana Man Sentenced For Setting Flag On Fire

HAMILTON, Mont. (AP) - A 49-year-old Stevensville man who set afire his neighbor's flag has been sentenced to 29 days in jail and 100 hours of community service.    The Ravalli Republic reports in a story published Saturday that Larry Dan Lowry pleaded guilty to misdemeanor criminal mischief as part of a plea deal where a felony charge of desecrating the flag and a misdemeanor charge of negligent arson were dropped.    Police say Lowry on June 18 set a neighbor's flag on fire by first squirting it with lighter fluid, but that another neighbor stopped him from relighting it when wind blew the flames out.    The neighbor told police that Lowry appeared intoxicated and said he was trying to anger another man by setting the flag on fire.    (Copyright 2012 The Associated Press.
