Manhunt Continues For Suspect Who Allegedly Shoots At ISP Officer & Kidnaps Woman At Gunpoint.

RATHDRUM, Idaho - Deputies in Kootenai County say 57-year-old Mitchell Lee Walck, AKA Mark Mackenzie, led police on a chase early Saturday morning after officers tried stopping the pickup he was driving for a stop sign violation. Investigators later determined the pickup Walck was allegedly in was stolen out of Idaho Falls. Shortly after the chase began a Rathdrum Police Officer was able to deploy spike strips and disable the pickup. Walck allegedly stopped his pickup off of Bingham road in Rathdrum near the base of a hill. That's when a foot chase began and officers say Walck opened fire at an Idaho State Police Officer. The officer was not hit and not hurt, but Because of darkness, terrain and circumstances officers called off the foot pursuit.         After a further search on the hill from officers and Spokane County's Air 1 helicopter, Walck was never located. Around 5pm Sunday night investigators received a call from the sister-in-law of Susan Smith, a 62-year-old Rathdrum woman. Smith's sister-in-law told authorities Smith had been kidnapped and dropped off, but was not harmed in Glendive, Montana. Investigators determined that Walck fled to Smith's home on the hill where they were searching for him. Deputies say Walck kidnapped Smith at gunpoint, stole her car and two firearms and drove to Glendive.   Deputies say Walck had no known ties to Eastern Washington/North Idaho and have not determined why he was in the area. Investigators say Walck is a known transient. Authorities in Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho and Washington have been notified and are on the lookout for Mitchell Lee Walck. The FBI is also investigating this incident. Walck should be considered armed and dangerous. Authorities say he may have shaved off his beard and died his hair black.

Walck is described as 5'10" and approximately 175 pounds with graying black hair and brown eyes. Walck was last seen wearing light colored jeans and a brown jacket.
