KHQ has obtained numerous 911 tapes from Tuesday morning's head on collision that shut down Highway 195 for numerous hours.
Washington State Patrol said the collision occurred Tuesday when Jennifer Schmidt, 30, drove her car the wrong direction and collided with an oncoming vehicle.
Nearly 20 people called 911 to report that Schmidt was driving the wrong way in the southbound lanes of the highway.
Both Schmidt and the other driver Sean Moss, 32, were airlifted to the hospital.
Schmidt is currently listed in serious condition, while Moss was released from the hospital on Thursday.
Police said the initial investigation shows Schmidt was traveling 55 mph when her car smashed into Moss's vehicle.
WSP said the investigation is still underway to determine why Schmidt was traveling in the wrong lane.
Schmidt and Moss were both wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.
