ROCKFORD, Wash. - Some residents in the small town of Rockford woke up Sunday morning only to find their water wasn't working. Officials with the city say a broken underground pipe is to blame.
Crews are working to try and find the leak that's left multiple homes without water all day, and may possibly leave them waterless until sometime on Monday.
Rockford Mayor Micki Harnois told KHQ Sunday that having a water line break isn't exactly new for the people in Rockford. They had three major incidents last spring where some of the pipes had actually collapsed.
Crews will be out trying to restore water to the neighborhood late Sunday and again on Monday.
As they worked Sunday afternoon water continued to run over the road, and with the cold temperatures that will likely turn into ice.
Because of the leak they will also have to do some roadwork to put everything back together. But one perk of living in the small community is that everyone, including the local mini mart, is pitching in to make sure every house without water is taken care of.
