Kerry Kennedy changes attorneys in NY case

ARMONK, N.Y. (AP) - The daughter of Robert F. Kennedy appeared in court on Tuesday with new attorneys, who asked a judge for more time to prepare for her case.

Kerry Kennedy is accused of driving while impaired with drugs and is due back in court Nov. 20.

Police say Kennedy swerved across Interstate 684 in North Castle on July 13 and swiped a tractor-trailer. She has pleaded not guilty.

Tests found a small amount of a sleeping drug in Kennedy's blood. She says she believes she accidentally took a sleeping pill.

The driver of the tractor-trailer has pleaded not guilty to leaving the scene of an accident. He says he continued on because his truck was undamaged.

Kennedy also is a niece of President John F. Kennedy.
