Idaho Senator, Michael Crapo has been arrested and charged with a DUI in a suburb of Washington D.C., according to authorities.
Police in Alexandria, Va. said the Senator was pulled over early Sunday morning, after running a red light. Jody Donaldson, a Police spokesperson said Crapo was arrested after failing field sobriety tests at about 12:45 a.m. without incident. He was taken to the Alexandria jail and released on a $1,000 bond at around 5 a.m.
Donaldson said he didn't know the blood alcohol level of Crapo at the time. The court date is set for January 4th. A spokesperson for Crapo couldn't be reached for comment.
Crapo has been in the Senate since 1998, and served in the House of Representatives for six years before that.
