FIRE ALERT: Idaho Firefighters Work To Get Control Of Weekend Blaze

NAMPA, Idaho (AP) - Authorities say firefighters in western Idaho were building containment lines around a 1,400-acre blaze that broke out this weekend southwest of Marsing.    Bureau of Land Management spokeswoman Mallory Eils says 120 firefighters and six firefighting aircraft are responding to the Jump Creek Canyon fire and it is expected to be under control Monday morning.    The Idaho Press-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/MoaTao)that the fire started about 11 p.m. Saturday and quickly spread through the dry grass and brush. No homes or structures were threatened.    The cause of the fire is under investigation.    To the east, the 1,038-acre Charlotte fire was fully contained as of 8 a.m. Monday. The Pocatello Fire Department said crews were mopping up hot spots and doing rehabilitation work in the aftermath of the blaze, which destroyed 66 houses.(Copyright 2012 The Associated Press.
