PRESS RELEASE FROM THE FBI: FBI Special Agent in Charge David J. Johnson of the Salt Lake City Division has announced a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Mitchell Lee Walck.
On December 3, 2012, the FBI Salt Lake City Division, working with the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Idaho, obtained an Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution (UFAP) warrant for Walck.
FBI Special Agents have been assisting the Post Falls, Idaho Police Department and the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office in the search for Walck. Walck is wanted for allegedly shooting at an Idaho State Police trooper during an attempted traffic stop on December 1, 2012. The trooper was not injured and Walck fled the area on foot.
Later that day, Walck allegedly kidnapped an adult female at gunpoint from her residence in Rathdrum, Idaho and released her unharmed in Glendive, Montana. The State of Idaho has issued a warrant for his arrest for kidnapping.
Walck is described as a 57-year-old white male, 5'10", 175 lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes. However, Walck recently changed his appearance and was last seen with dyed black hair and a dyed black mustache. He may be driving a 2005 silver Subaru Forester with Idaho plate K230050. He has been known to stop at campgrounds and churches for shelter.
Walck is considered armed and dangerous and the public is advised not to contact him and instead call the FBI Salt Lake City Division at (801) 579-1400, email tips to saltlakecity@ic.fbi.gov, or contact the nearest law enforcement agency.
