EXCLUSIVE: Person Of Interest Named In Crash That Killed 20 Year Old

SPRINGDALE, Wash. - For more than two weeks, Washington State Patrol Detectives have been looking for the driver who is responsible for killing 20 year old Evonna Hyde in a hit and run collision on November 13th near Springdale. Now it appears they have a strong lead after someone called in saying 34 year old Kimberly Crump is the woman responsible for the deadly crash.

KHQ Local News Reporter Alex Rozier obtained a search warrant filed in Spokane County Superior Court detailing the incident. That warrant stated that Crump said several times "It was me. It was me." She said it was super foggy that night and she initially thought she hit a deer.

"I didn't even think about it being a human," Crump told detectives.

It turns out it was a human as a 20 year old was killed, but whoever did this never stopped. They just kept driving. At first Crump told detectives that she was driving to her boyfriend's house in Spokane Valley, but then she changed her story saying her baby was with her and she was trying to get the baby to fall asleep. Crump also changed her story later saying she did see the girl in the road, but she kept driving because she was scared.

WSP Detectives were looking for a green SUV and as it turns out Crump drives a green SUV. According to the warrant they took that SUV in to the evidence garage and found marijuana inside the car. They also recognized it was damaged. The color of the vehicle appeared to be the same as the paint and vehicle pieces that were at the scene. Detectives also said the damage on the hood was consistent with a pedestrian involved collision.

Detectives say they do plan to check Crump's cell phone records as it is believed she was texting about the incident in the days after the crash. They think those records will show if she knew whether she hit a person or a deer.

Crump has a driving record that includes driving with a suspended license in April of this year and a criminal record that shows a 2009 conviction for fraud.
