Driver Dumps Garbage On Road After It Catches Fire In Back Of Truck

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. - Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire Saturday morning just south of Deer Park.

It happened off of Highway 395 near the intersection of Dalton and Staley Rd. Upon arrival crews found a pile of garbage in the middle of the road on fire. Authorities say garbage in the back of a Waste Management garbage truck caught fire, forcing the driver to dump it on the road before the flames spread to the truck.

Due to the nature of material being burned, firefighters took extra precautions while trying to extinguish the flames, and the road was blocked for several hours while crews cleaned up the mess.

As of right now, it is unknown exactly why the garbage caught fire, but it is under investigation.

No injuries were reported.
