Cops: 10-Year-Old Body Shoots Himself While Playing With Gun

NBCNEWS.COM/PHILADELPHIA - A 10-year-old boy shot himself in the hand while playing with a gun at a playground on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The accidental shooting happened around 3 p.m. at the Christy Recreation Center in Cobbs Creek.

Police say the 10-year-old victim was rushed to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his left thumb. He was treated and released.

It was initially reported that an 11-year-old shot the victim but later police said the 10-year-old shot himself while playing with the gun.
